Andre's Taekwondo Academy

Sabumnim Andre Van Tonder has been training since the age of 7yrs. From that early age he knew that Martial Arts is his way of life and the way to go. A humble giant with a big heart (holding many a champion title) he believes in sharing his lifelong commitment with everyone, building a better tomorrow one student at a time.

Sabumnim Andre Van Tonder holds a 5th degree black belt in Songahm Taekwondo (American Taekwondo Association) and has more than 25 years’ experience in Martial Arts.

He knows the importance of teaching solid values and useful life skills in today’s world. He tries to instill a sense of discipline and respect in his students, by his example. His true calling is to help grow and nurture kids, to reach their goals for a better future.

Martial Arts is a powerful tool and Sabumnim Andre Van Tonder will forever be grateful for the influence it has had and is still making in his life. He is, was and will always remain a student of the martial arts, knowing that there is always more to learn.

In his quest to forever expand and grow this way of life, he founded and started Andre’s Taekwondo Academy and his doors will always be open for everyone willing to learn. This is a safe environment where kids will build confidence, learn and grow.

We are in a position where we have a degree of influence over a child’s mental/emotional development, therefore we try to use that to cultivate the following life skills (and more) : goal setting, discipline, self-discipline, courage, focus, perseverance, respect, loyalty, self-control, confidence and attitude.

PHYSICAL DEVELOPMENT

Kids in modern society grow up into a very sedentary lifestyle. We believe that kids (and adults) need to move, daily. We are constantly encouraging and assisting students to improve their fitness levels.

ACHIEVING A BLACK BELT

When/if a student decides that becoming a black belt is a goal that he/she wants to achieve, we’ll be ready to take their training/intensity to new heights and help them become great martial artists.
